Rezension

Fast 20 Jahre ist es her, daß David Eugene Edwards seine erste Band 16 Horsepower aufgelöst hat. Von Jean-Yves Tola, Schlagzeuger und Arrangeur, hat man seither nicht mehr viel gehört – umso überraschender dieses Album, auf dem neben Tola auch sein Ex-Bandmate Steve Taylor (Gitarre) zu hören ist – und, prägend, die wunderbare belgische Sängerin Chantal Acda! Allzu eng ist schon allein durch ihre Stimme die Verwandtschaft zu 16 HP nicht (auch wenn Spurensucher sicherlich fündig werden); man denkt weit öfter an die seligen Walkabouts – was ja sicherlich kein Nachteil ist. Tolas Songwriting und die kammermusikalischen Arrangements lassen jedenfalls hoffen, daß dieses Projekt eine Zukunft hat… (2024)
